Our Pine Tar Salve is one of the most-loved remedies in our farm apothecary for all the itchy, irritated summer skin things. Crafted with traditional pine tar and deeply nourishing oils, this salve was made to support dry, angry, inflamed skin while helping soothe discomfort from poison ivy, bug bites, rashes, psoriasis, eczema, and more.

This is an old-world style salve we keep on hand year-round for the entire family.

🌿 Why We Make It

Pine tar has been used for generations in traditional skincare preparations for itchy, irritated, inflamed skin conditions. Historically, pine tar soaps and salves were commonly used for poison ivy exposure because pine tar may help support the skin after contact with urushiol—the irritating oil found in poison ivy, poison oak, and poison sumac.

Pine tar is traditionally valued for its soothing and comforting properties and has long been used in preparations for dry, flaky, rough, or irritated skin.

We paired it with a powerhouse blend of chamomile infused olive oil, neem oil, and essential oils traditionally chosen to support irritated skin and overall skin wellness.

Tea Tree Essential Oil — traditionally used for cleansing and purifying support.

Orange Essential Oil — traditionally used to support damaged or irritated skin.

Cedarwood Essential Oil — commonly used in herbal skincare for dry, troubled skin conditions.

Neem Oil — traditionally valued for supporting balanced, healthy-looking skin.
